“Story from Stone”, a book by Manx authors Vicky Lloyd-West and Kim Kneen, explores the lives behind the gravestones of Ballure Chapel, on the Isle of Man. Labelled as “strangers” through being foreigners to the island, these people span centuries and continents; representing lives so differently led. Each can be united through their eventual end in the small, Manx chapel. These figurines, merging elements of Jo’s illustrations in “Story to Stone”, bring each story to life; reflecting both real and imagined events. Their shadows serve as lasting reminders of the people who once were.
